Skateboarding ramp manufacturer celebrates ten years and expansion
November 20, 2008
A Joplin company is celebrating an anniversary and an expansion.
American Ramp Company is a skateboarding ramp manufacturer that began ten years ago, and is now a worldwide manufacturer of skate parks.
Recent overseas clients include parks in Saudia Arabia, China and Poland.
ARC acquired a concrete ramp company this year, which allows the company to build with concrete for the first time.
Thursday also marked the celebration of a 16,000 square foot expansion.
Although Joplin does not currently have an outdoor skate park, ARC would love to change that.
"We anxiously await the day that Joplin feels the need for a local skate park that would work in conjunction with The Bridge, not against The Bridge," says Jim Moss of American Ramp Company. "But The Bridge isn't where you learn to skate - you learn to skate on the local park and then you'll go skate at The Bridge on the weekends."
ARC says it will complete nearly 220 skate parks this year.
