Joplin schools go on lock down
November 20, 2008
A number of Joplin schools go on lock down in response to a report of a domestic dispute.
Public schools in northern Joplin began a lock-down around 11 a.m. on Thursday after getting word from police of a possible domestic dispute involving an armed man who had left the scene. The lockdown was lifted at around 1 p.m.
At least four schools went into the higher security mode including Columbia, West Central, Washington and McKinley.
However Joplin police say they did not order a lock-down and the superintendent of schools, C.J. Huff, says he's not sure who implemented the lockdown, or why it was lifted.
He says the district is looking for answers.
