Emergency workers responded to an overturned semi trailer along the Missouri stretch of Interstate 44 on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened in the westbound lanes when Joplin police said the truck driver was reaching for a water bottle when he lost control of his semi.  The truck then went down a nearby embankment.

JPD said the truck driver suffered only minor injuries from the accident because he was wearing his seatbelt.

The highway was cleared and opened for traffic.
