Winter weather advisory remains in effect through Wednesday morning 3/5/03
March 4, 2003
A strong cold front was pushing southeast across the Missouri Ozarks Tuesday evening. Temperatures behind the front rapidly drop off 20 to 25 degrees to around the freezing mark.
This freezing rain will cause roads to become ice covered and will make for hazardous travel. Roads...bridges and overpasses in the advisory area will become slick and hazardous. Accumulation of ice on roadways...bridges and overpasses will make travel treacherous. Exercise caution if travel is necessary.
Showers and thunderstorms with freezing rain will continue to push east out of southeast Kansas and into southwest Missouri through Wednesday morning. The heaviest area of freezing precipitation will affect the towns of Pittsburg, Kansas...Nevada...Schell City...and Osceola. Ice will begin to accumulate on roadways...trees and power lines. Travel will become treacherous throughout the area and is not recommended.
