Minor Ice Accumulations Possible Late Tuesday Night
March 4, 2003
A strong cold front will push across the Ozarks region tonight and usher much colder air into the area. Temperatures will fall sharply behind the front with readings falling below freezing across central Missouri by midnight. The freezing line will drop south to the Arkansas border by morning. Precipitation will develop along the front this evening as an upper level storm system approaches.
Precipitation will initially be in the form of rain before changing over to freezing rain. The freezing rain will become mixed with or change to sleet as the colder air deepens. Ice accumulations are expected to be light and less than one quarter of an inch. However slick spots will develop on area roads late tonight and early Wednesday morning, and especially on bridges and overpasses.
